O Estado de S. Paulo - traditionally modern

O Estado de S. Paulo is Brazil's most influential daily newspaper. A Columbia University's survey has placed it among the 20 most important papers in the world. O Estado de S. Paulo is sold all over Brazil and has a monthly circulation of over 10 million.

The quality and extent of the paper's editorial content have set standards of media credibility and independence for 115 years. O Estado de S. Paulo's advocacy of democratic principles, citizenship, freedom and free enterprise have made the paper a nuisance to authoritarian regimes, to whose pressures O Estado de S. Paulo never bowed -- but this courage has also given the paper its most important asset: Brazilian society's respect and confidence.

During these 115 years, O Estado de S. Paulo, nicknamed Estadao-- with an augmentation suffix, due to its weight and size-- has undergone several modernizing changes, adding new technologies and closely following industry trends.

Recently, O Estado de S. Paulo has added color to all supplements and once more is circulating on Mondays. The layout was completely redesigned to increase readability, while the editorial extended the in-depth coverage of national and global news, events and lifestyles.

The existing supplements were redesigned and several new ones created. O Estado de S. Paulo is structured and segmented, providing quality news and information for all tastes and ages. The sections Informatica (computer industry), Economia & Negocios (financial and business), Empresas (companies and corporations), Cidades (city desk), and Caderno 2 (culture and arts) have grown and weekly supplements devoted to children, teenagers, housekeeping, tourism, TV, and farming were added. Large weekly classified and business information sections -- Autos & Acessorios, for the automobile industry; Negocios e Oportunidades, covering small businesses, franchising, etc., and Imoveis e Empregos, covering real state and job offers -- have pushed the newspaper to a position of absolute leadership in classified advertising and information.
